In this region,when the Gods of Olympus were the worthies of this world, the
Earth gave birth to the "Giants" , who during their war with the Gods threw burning tree-trunks
to he Gods' residence.Therefore this area was given the name Flegra (from the flames).
Later on King Sithon was married to the Nymphe Mendis and she gave birth to Pallini
whose husband Kleitos named Flegra after his wife, therefore was later called Pallini.
The ancient cities of Pallini exist since the 12th century BC.The fall of Troy an
event by which the whole Greece was shaken ,marked this area as well.
The group of Trojans with Aeneas as leader went to Pallini that was inhabited by the Krousaes,
the most loyal allies of Troy; Aeneas spends the winter in this region and then goes
to the north and builds the town of Aenia.
A second group of Achaeans with Protesilaos as leader stops between Kanistro and Mendi
to get provisions.But the bondswomen they carried with them from Troy, set fire to their boats.
Therefore they were obliged to stay there and create the settlement of ancient Skioni.
Later on , in the 7th century BC, at the northern side, the Corinthians founded Poidea
and farther down Sani.
Hanioti is one of the prettiest villages of Halkidiki. It is at a distance of 100 km.
from Thessaloniki, towards the end of Kassandra 's peninsula.
According to the prevailing viewpoint this village got its name as it follows :
the first inhabitant of this village came from Hania - Crete.He settled down in the area
of the old village , situated in the inland , to the south of today's village at a distance
of 2 km. Therefore the neighbouring communities used to say that this region was populated by
one man originated from Hania (=Haniotis).
In 1936 the village was transferred to its present position , due to an earthquake which
entirely devastated the old village.Today , in the area of the old village there are only
houses' ruins and Agios Georgios church.
During the last twenty years Hanioti was developed a lot and today it constitutes one of
the most significant touristic centers of Greece.Well - Organised Hotel Units, equipped
appartments to let, restaurants , taverns with exquisite hors d' oeuvres, coffee shops,
patisseries, super markets, bakeries,jewellers, stores with garments and gifts, butcher's
shops, drug stores, taxi, auto renting, travel agencies, gas-stations, night clubs, bars

The squares' decoration with multicoloured flowers, the bright-green parks, the car-stations,
the paved streets, the tall pine trees that go all the way to the seashore, the fascinating,
